International Nurses Day

12th May 2025

Meet Anna, a former nurse and now first aid instructor, to help us celebrate International Nurses Day

Here at Mama’s Who Brunch, we love nothing more than connecting you with experts who get it — those incredible people who not only know their stuff but also have hearts as big as their skill sets. Today, we’re absolutely delighted to introduce the wonderful Anna from Mini First Aid. 🩹💛

Anna is a qualified ICU nurse with over 20 years of experience (yes — two decades of saving lives and soothing souls!). She’s also a mum of two, so she knows first-hand the whirlwind of parenthood. After years working in Intensive Care, Anna made the leap to teaching first aid in the community — and wow, are we lucky she did!

Her classes are a game-changer for parents, carers, and even little ones. Whether it’s a family-friendly session packed with practical tips, an awareness workshop just for parents, or essential first aid training for work, Anna’s mission is simple:
👉 To give you the confidence and skills to act fast when it matters most.
👉 To make first aid feel doable, empowering and even… dare we say… fun! 🙌

Why are we shouting about her today?
Because it’s International Nurses Day, and we want to give a huge Mama’s Who Brunch cheer to Anna — and all the nurses out there — who’ve cared for us, cheered us on, and made a difference in more ways than we can count. 👩‍⚕️💚✨

Anna shared a beautiful reflection with us that we think every mama will appreciate — a peek into her journey from hospital wards to community classrooms:

“International Nurses Day always brings a smile to my face as I reflect on the incredible journey I’ve had as a nurse. Most of my career was spent in Intensive Care, caring for critically ill adults. I started out as a nervous junior nurse and, over the years, grew into the role of an experienced Senior Sister. Each day brought new challenges, and I carry with me countless memories—some difficult, many rewarding, and all unforgettable. What I treasure most are the lifelong friendships I formed along the way. There’s a unique bond that develops when you work closely through long night shifts and demanding days.

Balancing intensive care nursing with a young family was never easy. Eventually, I felt the need for a new path—one that still made use of my skills and experience. First aid has always held a special place in my heart. During my time in the hospital, I saw firsthand how many lives were saved because someone nearby knew what to do in those critical first moments.

Learning first aid is one of the most powerful gifts you can give your loved ones. You never know when it might make all the difference. I love the variety of classes I get to teach—whether it's fun, engaging sessions for children, awareness classes for families, or essential first aid training in the workplace. Each setting brings something different, but the goal is always the same: to empower people with the skills and confidence to save a life. It's a real privilege to be out in the community, meeting people from all walks of life, and making sure that everyone has the chance to learn these vital, life-saving techniques.”

Isn’t that just incredible? 💛

At Mama’s Who Brunch, we are so proud to have Anna as part of our expert family — sharing her knowledge with kindness, humour and that reassuring calm only a nurse can bring. So next time you spot one of Anna’s sessions on our brunch calendar, don’t miss it. It could be the most important coffee date you have all year. ☕🩺✨

This International Nurses Day, let’s raise a toast (and maybe a pastry 🥐) to Anna and all the nurses who’ve guided us with skill and compassion. We’re so lucky to have them in our corner. 💛💛💛
